Development of advanced organic transformations

The origin of chemistry is "manufacturing”.
In organic chemistry, not only chemoselective transformation (yield) of substances to produce only what is desired, but also synthesis of only one of the enantiomeric isomers (asymmetric synthesis) is now indispensable in the production of biologically active molecules, such as pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. In addition, the creation of new molecules is needed to further expand the chemical space (the ensemble of molecules). In our laboratory, we are pursuing selectivity, versatility, and efficiency by uniquely designing next-generation molecular catalysts that take advantage of the properties of organic molecules and transition metal complexes, and we are aiming to develop new molecular transformations that respond to the creation of novel molecular classes. Based on catalyst design and reaction development, we are pioneering advanced molecular transformation processes that achieve environmentally friendly molecular transformations, cultivate new chemical spaces, and lead to the creation of biologically active and functional materials.
